A welcome arrival at Bachmann this month is sure to delight Great Western era 5 modellers and collectors. Our model of Class 64xx 6419, in contrast to our previous BR Era 5 64xx, is in a rather more prototypical state for a 1960s British Railways western region branch-line locomotive.

Make way for the Graham Farish Class 40

As shown at the 2016 International N Gauge Show, we are excited to present the first pictures of the N scale Class 40 engineering prototype from Graham Farish. OO Thompson Corridor Coaches

New images are now available for the Bachmann Branchline Thompson coach livery samples. The LNER foresaw a post-war building program of over 4,000 coaches to replace life expired stock. With suitable materials not available to continue construction of Gresleys teak coaches, Edward Thompson designed a series of steel clad corridor coaches. The steel bodies were painted with a simulated teak finish, giving way to crimson and cream after nationalization.

Merl Evans 1947 - 2016

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our former Head of Research and Development Merl Evans, who retired from Bachmann in Summer 2014. Merl passed away peacefully early yesterday morning with his family around him. David Haarhaus, Managing Director of Bachmann Europe Plc said today "We are all devastated by the loss of dear Merl. He was a fantastic colleague, eloquent ambassador and more personally a wonderful friend to myself and so many others here at Bachmann. Merl was instrumental in the development of the company's large portfolio of OO Scale locomotives and rolling stock for over 20 years. Our heartfelt sympathies go to Maureen and his family during this very sad and difficult time".

HMS Ark Royal docks at Bachmann

Available this July, we are pleased to present this fantastic model kit of the HMS Ark Royal from Merit International. The HMS Ark Royal was an aircraft carrier of the Royal Navy that served during the Second World War. The design differed to previous aircraft carriers as it was the first ship on which the hangars and the flight deck were integral to the hull, instead of a separate part.

What goes into a Graham Farish model?

Have you ever wondered how many parts go into making a Graham Farish model? We have taken a Graham Farish Class 101 3 car dmu and have counted all the components that make up the model and it amounts to a grand total of 458 parts!

But it's not just parts that make up a model, for example, each Class 101 body shell has over 15 different spraying and printing operations to apply the livery. A multitude of bespoke tools and moulding equipment is required in the production of the end product, with the final finishing process being an elaborate process carried out by hand.
